Who We Are

Jubiloso and JuBELLation were established in 2002 and 2016, respectively, as part of the Concordia School of Music. We have been operating independently since 2021.

Our Mission

Our focus is on excellence in musicianship and artistry from rehearsal through performance. We pride ourselves on being welcoming and inclusive, and we have a lot of fun together. Our ensembles enjoy giving back to the Edmonton and greater Alberta communities through outreach such as providing performances and workshops in elementary schools across the province.

What We’ve Been Up To

  • Some of our members travelled to Fort McMurray in spring 2024 to provide workshops to youths in local elementary school as part of the Alberta Guild’s 40th Anniversary Youth Event.

  • In August 2024 some of our members attended the 21st International Handbell Symposium in Hamamatsu, Japan. We are thrilled that our Director, Debbie Rice, was selected as the Canadian massed ringing conductor, and that one of Jubiloso’s members, Betty Radford, had her original composition chosen as the Canadian massed ringing selection!

  • While at the 2024 International Symposium, Debbie Rice was awarded the International Handbell Laureate Award. This award is presented by the International Handbell Committee to individuals who have provided an outstanding contribution to the international development and/or performance of handbells. We’re thrilled for Debbie on her receipt of this very deserved recognition.

  • We celebrated our one year anniversary as a Society in March 2024.

  • In October 2023 many of our members travelled to Calgary to participate in the Alberta Guild of English Handbell Ringers’ 40th anniversary Handbell Discovery event.

  • We were honoured to be asked to participate as guests in Mannerchor Liederkranz’ Christmas Concert.

  • We provided a free performance for approximately 600 school children at St. Dominic Elementary School in Edmonton in March.

JuBELLation is an intermediate ensemble and rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

Jubiloso is an advanced ensemble and rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church from 7 pm to 9:30 pm.
